Rapid , boxwood canyon and minnekhata ... saturday & sunday

Miles of Trails , Presidents on every corner , Dinosaurs on the skyline … Rapid City is the gateway to the Black Hills . Home to a very diverse economy,  it has a big city feel despite its small size ( 60k) . Great Coffee , Brewpubs , and a creek running through downtown that is a popular fly fishing spot are just a few of the things that make Rapid so unique . The park system is amazing for a small town . And I guess though small in population , maybe it offers so much because its the closest thing to a city for quite a ways ?? The trails were popular with the locals and I ran for an hour … and pretty hard ( happens when there are others on the trail )  . Yay !

Spent the night in Boxwood Canyon ( outside of Hot Springs ) and ran the southern end of the MIckelson Trail . The camp rolls out onto one of the higher spots in the area . There were hours of T storms …. other than a brief outburst of good size hail there wasn't too much rain . The light show was great but I was a bit worried about my solar panels !n

This end of the Trail had a much different look than the area I was in last week ( Hill City ) . More prairie and Birch than Pine and Aspen .
