The problem was …… IT RAINED . After talking to a park ranger who had met a few loons like me that wanted to run the Castle Trail ( a 12 mile loop through part of the maze that is this place ) … and after watching people falling on the butts just taking picture …. I saw the wisdom . This dirt holds water … and gets greasier than clay and takes days to dry out . The next morning wasn't any better and a heavy fog added to the soup .
Next stop , Boxwood Canyon in the southern Black Hills , then on to Wyoming . But first a stop in Rapid City to get some miles in ! Population 60k ! Ye Ha
